Lower Your Risk for Type 2 Diabetes

November 14 is World Diabetes Day, and Telligen is raising awareness for diabetes prevention. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the United States. The American Diabetes Association estimates that 30 million Americans are now living with diabetes and that another 84 million are living with prediabetes, a health condition that increases a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes and other health problems. That’s over one-third of the people in the US, who are either dealing or at high-risk of the ill effects of diabetes.

The good news is through lifestyle intervention, you can reduce your risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Research such as the Diabetes Prevention Program offered by Telligen in partnership with the American Diabetes Association shows that you can do a lot to lower your chances of developing type 2 diabetes. Here are some steps you can take to lower your risk:

  • Lose weight and keep it off
  • Move more
  • Eat healthy foods
