Hospital-Associated Infections (HAI)

Here you will find resources and guidelines for infection prevention related to MDRO, CLABSI, CAUTI, and surgical site infections. You will have access to educational materials, orientation checklist, and root cause analysis tools for combatting these infections.

This Learning & Action Network Series was created to share strategies for getting “back to basics” when it comes to preventing MDROs, particularly hospital onset Clostridium Difficile (C. diff) and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) bacteremia. Methods for integrating the patience voice into infection prevention are also covered.

Use this tool to complete a root-cause analysis (RCA) of a recent CDI case on your unit or in your facility. Answer the questions using information from chart review, discussions with staff, and infection prevention rounds. Review your responses with your team and/or staff to identify opportunities for preventing future CDI cases. Consider performing an RCA on each CDI case moving forward so that you may identify trends in infection prevention practices.
