Things are heating up with Telligen’s rollout of its latest application programming interface (API) utilizing Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR).

For many years, the prior authorization process has been inefficient and burdensome for both patients and providers. It’s not uncommon for patients to experience delays in receiving the care they need because providers are strapped with administrative hurdles such as having to use multiple systems for submitting prior authorization requests.

Telligen’s new APIs, which are part of our proprietary population health management system, Qualitrac, help bridge the gaps that have been causing these burdens. Medicaid program managers can now connect directly to a provider’s EHR and exchange information within one system in real time. No more portals, faxes or phone calls – reducing the risk of inaccurate transmission of information and unnecessary delays.

EHR integration is the latest phase in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) push for interoperability regarding prior authorization. Telligen is an industry leader in offering these APIs as part of their broader solution in population health management, helping Medicaid programs to achieve compliance with CMS’s Interoperability and Prior Authorization Rule.

FHIR technology was created by healthcare standards organization, Health Level Seven International. What makes FHIR unique is its ability to work between legacy health care systems so that third-party developers like Telligen can create innovative, mobile-friendly solutions and interfaces.
