Every year in April, we honor Americans fighting cancer and cancer survivors. Last year, 1.8 million people were diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Telligen stands with others to reduce the burden of cancer during Cancer Control Month. Cancer Control Month has the following goals:

  • Cancer prevention. 30-50% of all cancer cases are preventable. Prevention is the most effective strategy to reduce cancer risk. A healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of cancer. Telligen helps members make healthy choices.
  • Early detection. Early detection of cancer increases the chances of successful treatment. Knowing the signs of cancer and cancer screening can help catch cancer early. Telligen helps members learn warning signs of illness. We teach the importance of yearly health screenings and check-ups.
  • Improve treatments. Researching cancer treatments is a top priority for saving lives. Using the best treatment plan can help patients improve and survive. Telligen works with patients and their doctors to create the best treatment plan for them.
  • Improve the quality of life for people who have cancer. A cancer diagnosis can be difficult for patients and their families. Telligen supports people before, during, and after their diagnosis.

Cancer can affect the mental health of patients, their families, friends, and caregivers. This diagnosis can lead to anxiety, distress, and depression, making it hard to cope with the effects of having cancer. It is important to get help when needed. Telligen’s case managers support members and their families through treatment. We work with members and their providers to create a plan to treat cancer and improve their quality of life.
